User’s Application Scenario

If you have a DSL modem router and a second router, to avoid double NAT, you can switch the modem router into Bridge mode.

A DSL model router is connected to the ISP internet, and a second router provides WiFi for user devices.

How can I do that?

Follow the steps below; here takes VX420-G2h as a demonstration:

1. Connect to the WiFi of VX420-G2h. Open the web browser, type in tplinkmodem.net or 192.168.1.1 and press Enter. You may refer to How to log into the web-based interface of the AC VDSL/ADSL Modem Router.

2. Create a login password for future login attempts or use “admin” (lower) for the password. If you don’t know the password, check What's the login/device password for TP-Link Customized Modem/Router?

3. Go to Advanced > Network > DSLWAN/DSL.

Display the configuration page of DSL WAN.

4. Click Add, select Internet in Service type, DSL Modulation Type, and select Bridge in the Internet Connection Type column. Fill in VLAN ID in Advance setting if required by ISP.

Display the settings page for a bridge connection.

5. Click OK to make the settings effective.

6. Succeed! You can use your modem router as a pure modem now.
