Part 1. Basic Information

Q1: Is the Tapo C410 KIT waterproof?

Yes, your Tapo C410 camera is water-resistant thanks to its weatherproof seals. These seals are rated IPX5, which means they can withstand light rain or splashes. Please do not remove the silicone covering the ports, and make sure the ports are closed when not in use; this creates a tight seal and prevents water from getting in.

Q2: Can the battery of the Tapo C410 be removed?

The battery cannot be removed. However, it can be used with Tapo solar panels to provide continuous charging, eliminating the risk of losing power.

Q3: How long is the charging cord for the Tapo A201 solar panel?

The Tapo A201’s charging cord length is 20cm/25cm and can be extended with the 380 cm long A201 extension cord included in the product package.

Q4: Does the camera use a PIR sensor?

Yes. The Tapo C410 uses PIR sensors to sense movement and wake up. The PIR's effective awakening distance from the front is approximately 7-8 meters at maximum sensitivity. Please tilt the camera downwards at an angle of about 20°; an excessive tilt angle will cause a significant reduction in the PIR's effective distance.

Q5: Does the camera have to be connected to the router's Wi-Fi or to a Hub?

The camera can only connect to an encrypted 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal (from your router) and does not require a Hub.

Part 2. Power Related

Q1: How long does it take for the solar panel to charge the camera fully?

The amount of sunshine impacts how long it takes to charge. If the solar panel is functioning correctly and receives enough sunlight, it will typically take two to three days for the camera to charge when it is switched off entirely.

Q2: How long can the camera work without utilizing a power source after fully charging it?

Battery life of up to 180 days is based on TP-Link’s laboratory testing scenario of triggering 10–20 events per day. Actual battery life may vary based on device settings, use, and environmental factors.

Note:

Directing the camera toward the street, road, or other regions that cause the camera to wake up frequently is not recommended since this would significantly drain the battery's capacity. Please see the FAQ for information on how to extend the battery life.

Q3: How long can the camera continuously operate the Tapo A201 solar panel connected when it's raining or cloudy outside?

The solar panel cannot collect solar energy to power the camera on rainy days. It varies on cloudy days depending on the amount of sunlight, how often the camera wakes up, and other factors.

Q4: Aside from the Tapo A201 solar panel, can other solar panels or USB charging devices be used to charge the camera?

The C410 can be powered by USB Type-C charging devices and solar panels with a regulated 5V output. With a 5V1A USB adapter, the C410 takes 7.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.

Note

We always recommend using our official Tapo charging devices for your Tapo C410 KIT. If you use a third-party solar panel or charging device, we cannot guarantee the efficacy of the camera’s weatherproof seal, etc. The charging time data provided above is from laboratory testing. Actual times may vary.

Part 3. Video Related

Q1: Does the camera support ONVIF or RTSP?

The C410 does not support RTSP and ONVIF.

Q2: Is it possible for the camera to record continuously?

No, even with an SD card inserted, the camera cannot record continually. Continuous recording consumes power too quickly and will require you to charge the battery frequently. We recommend purchasing a non-battery model if you want to record continuously.

Q3: Can the camera capture video even when it isn't connected to the internet?

Yes, the camera can continue to record video to the SD card even when it is not connected to the internet.
