A TP-Link mesh router can be set as an agent to extend your network. Before starting, check whether the mesh router can work with your main AP. If you are not sure, please contact us for help.

Please note that, after setting as an agent, you can add this router to a mesh network by pressing the WPS button or via an Ethernet cable.

There are two methods to set your mesh router as an agent. Here we take EX220 for demonstration:

Method One: Via Quick Setup

  1. Log in to the web interface of the router. If you don’t know how to do that, please refer to How do I log into the web-based Utility (Management Page) of TP-Link wireless router?
  2. Run the Quick Setup, select AP Mode > Agent, click Next and wait for the router to reboot, the router will become an agent.

Method Two: Via Operation Mode

  1. Log in the web interface of the router. If you don’t know how to do that, please refer to How do I log into the web-based Utility (Management Page) of TP-Link wireless router?
  2. Go to Advanced > Operation Mode, select Access Point > Agent and click Save, the router will reboot and become an agent.

To get to know more details of each function and configuration, please go to Download Center to download the manual of your product.
