How to create and restore from a backup file on your TP-Link Router

Note: This FAQ is only applied to the same model and hardware version.

Step 1: Open a web browser and go to the URL tplinkwifi.net

Step 2: Log in to the router using your admin password

Step 3: On the main screen click on “Advanced”

Step 4: On the left side panel click on “System Tools”

Step 5: Under System, Tools click on “Backup and Restore”

Step 6: Click on “Backup”

Step 7: Depending on your browser you should see the downloaded file (an example is using Chrome)

To Restore the file:

Follow Steps 1 through 5

Step 6: Click on “Browse”

Step 7: Locate the backup file and click “Open”

Step 8: Click on “Restore”

Step 9: On the popup click “Yes”

Step 10: Wait for the file to restore then log back into the router.

*Note: The admin password will be what was set when you create the backup.
