Frequently Asked Questions
What is Omada?
Omada’s Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform integrates network devices providing 100% centralized cloud management to create a highly scalable network. Access points, switches, and routers are among the devices that can all be controlled from a single interface.
Why should I choose Omada switches?
Omada Managed and Smart switches integrate into the Omada system to allow you to effortlessly centrally manage via the web or Omada app. They also support a choice of management including CLI, Web GUI, and SNMP. The enterprise hardware and advanced software functions make Omada switches ideal for small and medium businesses, from the core to the edge. Comprehensive product options meet the versatile demands.
Besides, Omada offers a more extended product warranty of up to 5 years (varying from region/country).* Superb pre- and after-sales services such as certification and training, localization support teams, and dedicated Omada support are provided. Vertical integration of supporting facilities ensures complete quality control and high-level manufacturing.
*A 5-year product warranty is applicable to Omada products in the US region. Certain outdoor products have a 2-year warranty. Go to https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/replacement-warranty/ for details.
Which switches are right for me?
Omada offers full switches from core to edge for small and medium businesses. Unmanaged, Easy Smart, Smart, L2+ Managed, and L3 Managed switches are available. The Smart, L2+ Managed, and L3 Managed switches are integrated into Omada SDN (Software-Defined Networking) for a centralized management capability.
L3 Managed Switches: Our highest-end stackable switches. Physical stacking and virtual stacking are available for built-in redundancy and performance. Policy Routing, RIP, OSPF, and VRRP come with abundant Layer 3 routing protocols that support a scalable network.
L2+ Managed Switches: Reliable hardware and performance, combined with L2+ features like static routing, enterprise-level QoS, and IGMP Snooping, make them ideal for use as aggregation and access layer switches.
Smart Switches: Powerful switches ranging from 5 to 28 gigabit and 10G multi-gigabit ports, with PoE and non-PoE options. Ideal for mid-sized networks.
Easy Smart Switches: Simple and professional gigabit networking for small businesses. They support plug-and-play while also being able to be easily managed via a web user interface or Management Utility.
Unmanaged Switches: Plug-and-play products, with no software configuration required. PoE and non-PoE are optional.
What is a PoE switch and how to choose?
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows network switches to transmit both power and data through an Ethernet cable simultaneously. Omada PoE switches offer effective solutions for connecting numerous PoE-compatible devices like VoIP, IP cameras, and access points—meeting the demands of most common business scenarios. More than providing basic features, Omada PoE switches offer value well beyond general networking demands, like up to 250 m (820 ft.) long-range PoE transmission, Port Prioritization, and PoE Auto Recovery.
When choosing PoE switches, you need to consider the managed functions, number of ports, port speed, PoE budget, and PoE type. Try our PoE Switches Buying Guide to find the best PoE switches suitable for you.
Can Omada Easy Smart switches centrally managed by Omada SDN?
Currently no. However, the Easy Managed switches that integrate into Omada SDN are coming soon.
